How To

How to make wood joint

This tutorial will demonstrate how to join two pieces together of wood. We'll use the "pocket hole joint," which means we drill holes in the wood and then glue them together. If your wood is straight and flat, this method will work well. You might consider dowel joinery if your wood isn’t straight or flat. Here are the steps

  1. Drill Pocket Hole Joints. First, measure the area where you wish to place the pocket joint. Use a jigsaw or handheld drilling machine to drill 3/8 inch deep holes at the ends of each wood piece.
  2. Sand Smooth. Sanding the wood's edges will ensure that the joint doesn't split.
  3. Glue the two sides of the wood together. Apply glue on both sides of the wooden plank. Allow it to cool for at least 5 minutes before you attach the pieces.
  4. Attach the Pieces together. After the glue has dried thoroughly, secure the pieces so that they are flush.
  5. Trim Joinery. After the glue dries completely, trim off any excess wood around the joint.

Allow enough space between pieces so you can turn them inside out.
